Public Submissions to the Proposed HGIDP :

OVERVIEW :
The future well-being of Waiheke, and the Gulf,
depends upon our making considered public submissions
to the Proposed Hauraki Gulf Islands District Plan.
These are due by Monday December 11 2006.

The 1996 Operative Hauraki Gulf Islands Section of the
ACC District Plan was the first Plan to be completed under
a post RMA regime, with a structure built around effects
based planning.

As a result this recently Notified ( Sept 15 2006) Plan is
the first of what planners call the second generation Plans.

It therefore has especial significance as a precedent for
other NZ district and regional plannng reviews to follow
and is pivotal in terms of its treatment of critical areas of
change and priorities, climate issues and the effective
provision for sustainability in particular.

Many of us have chosen to upgrade our priority towards
a more sustainable focus. However this will not eventuate
without our making a further commitment now.

This blog is a WISDG service to our community to offer
relevant data in a more user friendly format so as to
better enable your analysis of such ACC supplied data,

and so to further facilitate your submissions towards
a more sustainabile perspective.

Please note the links to other associated WISDG blogs,
and especially to the HGIDP Review Comment and Opinion blogs.

Congratulations on this site Chris. We need as many people to check out the District Plan proposed, as it has become so complicated, and with the development issues around at the moment it will stretch our resources somewhat.
I will attempt to give you some detailed feedback on the plan soon.
